because of the hydraulic lifter limitations. If you get valve float at high rpm, you risk getting lifter pump-up which will cause both valves to stay open on the base circle of the cam. If that happens you lose compression, power, possibly burn a valve , possibly have the valves hit the pistons. With solids, there is no lifter pump up issues. At least Nissan got it right with with the VQ35 motors having solid lifters like the Toyota motors already have.
